Whampoa Garden wanted an immersive outdoor installation for its Mid-Autumn Festival event. The projection covered an approximate 12 x 12 metre public floor area, transforming the plaza into a responsive light environment for residents and visitors.
The project had to operate in a demanding outdoor setting. The team faced typhoons, thunderstorms, heavy rain, high humidity, and temperatures above 30°C. Strong ambient lighting also required high-brightness projection and careful calibration.
We planned the projection zone, projector positions, housing, ventilation, and visitor flow. Two 25,000-lumen projectors were used to maintain visibility. Multiple visual patterns were designed to respond to visitors’ steps, creating an immersive floor experience across the site.
After launch, the installation became a popular Mid-Autumn attraction for Whampoa residents. Visitors could walk, play, and trigger changing visuals through movement, turning the public plaza into a shared immersive experience.
