PolyU needed a compact display for House of Innovation to present six research milestones: Vision Care, Textiles & Fashion, Anti-cancer Drugs, Green Technology, Infrastructure Monitoring System, and Space Exploration. The kiosk used a three-sided hologram above an opened book, turning research topics into a guided visual sequence instead of a standard video loop.
The content covered different research fields, from medicine to infrastructure and space. Each topic had to feel connected within one visual language, remain readable inside reflective glass, and explain abstract concepts without relying on long text or presenter narration.
We built a storyboard around the open-book format, using hologram mapping to anchor each milestone to the physical display. Motion sequences, icons, labels, and transitions were timed for three-sided viewing, helping visitors follow each research story from topic introduction to conceptual explanation.
The final kiosk gave HOI visitors a clearer way to understand PolyU research achievements. By combining spatial display, animation, and mapped hologram content, the installation made conceptual ideas easier to follow than ordinary screen playback and supported repeated self-guided viewing.
