Context

1881 Heritage presented a large-scale Christmas installation featuring an interactive floor projection around its central festive structure. Working with the event agency, we provided the projection system and interactive media experience for the outdoor public space.

Challenge

The system had to cover a large irregular floor area and respond accurately to visitors moving through the space. Four 15,000-lumen projectors and multiple camera sensors also had to operate outdoors under heavy rain, high temperature, and continuous public use.

Approach

We installed four high-brightness projectors in weather-protected housings and positioned camera sensors around the projection area. The system tracked visitors’ movement and triggered animated Christmas elements that followed their footsteps across the floor. Extensive off-site and on-site testing was carried out to maintain alignment, tracking accuracy, and system stability.

Impact

The installation transformed the plaza into an active festive environment. Visitors could walk through the projected graphics and see animated elements respond to their movement, adding a playful and participatory layer to the Christmas event.
