Context

The Chinese University of Hong Kong celebrated its 60th anniversary on 12 February 2023. As one of the main programmes, a projection mapping show was presented on the library facade. Team X Studio worked with an event agency to develop the visual direction and animated content.

Challenge

The project needed to translate the anniversary theme into a clear ceremonial visual experience. The content had to work at architectural scale, support the live event atmosphere, and remain readable from a distance.

Approach

We developed the art direction, storyboard, illustration style, 3D modeling, and animation. The visual flow was planned around the library facade, using architectural structure, motion timing, and layered graphic elements to create a coherent anniversary show.

Impact

The show became a key visual moment of the ceremony. It transformed the library facade into a large-scale storytelling surface, supporting the celebration with motion, light, and architectural visuals designed for the campus environment.
